Mid-Century Modern Italian Glazed Ceramic Fish Sculpture by Ivo De Santis

Italy 1960's

Italian glazed ceramic fish sculpture by the eccentric ceramics genius Ivo De Santis for his Gli Etruschi pottery (1950 to 1980) in Florence. Unsigned piece.
A friend of Marcello Fantoni (also of Florence), Ivo De Santis' pottery compares favourably with that of Fantoni and Guido Gambone.

Inspired by ancient Etruscan forms, as well as mid-20th century art, particularly abstract expressionism, pop, and color field painting, de Santis combined these influences to produce ceramic works of art that are all his own.

Size: 40 x 16 x 33 H cm.
